Dear Parents,

This week is the last week of 2007; the students keep on busy practicing the shows for our Christmas Party Night on December 21st. School will be closed from December 22nd, 2007 and open again on January 2nd, 2008. Some of you already plan to travel during a Christmas and New Year Break and some stay home and celebrate Christmas and New Year with family. I hope that all of you will have a wonderful brake and I am looking forward to seeing you next year.

สวัสดีค่ะ

สัปดาห์นี้เป็นสัปดาห์สุดท้ายของปีปฏิทิน 2550 คณะครูและนักเรียนต่างก็เร่งฝึกซ้อมและเตรียมงานฉลองคริสต์มาสและปีใหม่ที่จะจัดขึ้นในคืนวันศุกร์ที่ 21 ธันวาคมนี้ ซึ่งโรงเรียนจะปิดคริสต์มาสและปีใหม่ตั้งแต่วันที่ 22 ธันวาคม 227 และเปิดเรียนในวันที่ 2 มกราคม 2551 ครูอ้อยทราบมาว่าครูและนักเรียนบางคนวางแผนเดินทางไปเที่ยวในช่วงวันหยุดนี้ แต่บางคนก็เลือกที่จะฉลองเทศกาลคริสต์มาสและปีใหม่ ที่บ้าน ครู อ้อยก็ขอให้ทุกคนใช้เวลาในวันหยุดอย่างมีความสุขและพบกันปีหน้าค่ะ

It’s very nice to teach lovely kids everyday.  We’re very happy to greet kids every morning.  The first word they learn to say when they come to the class in the morning is “Good Morning”.  It’s so cute when they say “Good Morning” to the teachers before coming inside the classroom.  We saw many kids try to speak English with teachers and friends.  Some of them surprised us because they understood very well what the teachers say.

 

This week we are talking about Christmas Day, and the students learn to sing Christmas songs.  They go practicing the song with kindergarten class every aftrenoon. They look very fun.  Moreover, we prepare lots of arts about Christmas for kids.  They enjoy doing that work.  They always come to us and tell that they want to make a Christmas tree and Santa Clause.  They love to paint Christmas trees.  In addition, we and the students make a big Christmas tree together, and after we finish decorating, we put it on the table.  Kids are very excited!  They come to look and say “Wow, beautiful!”  Every morning they comes to the class, they always ask “Why is our class very beautiful?”  That’s a wonderful day.

Dear parents,

I can inform you that since I arrived and started working I really enjoy my time in the class together with the children. Some children are rather shy where other children are lively, open and enthusiastic. Together they create dynamic and wonderful group cohesion and there is a nice atmosphere in the class. The children help each other and like to work together.

 

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the children during the project in class about plants. Almost all kids brought their own plants, flowers or seeds…. The first thing they do every morning is to walk to their plant to see if it has grown a little. Because the growing takes some patience, some children have already lost interest. Other children however, ask if they can water their plant every hour, which resulted in a few accidental drownings. Next to giving plants too much water, the children have also learned that the flowers in class did not survive long because they didn’t have their roots anymore. This way they learned about the plant, its needs and how to take care of it. I hope we can continue the practice of taking care of them until the end of the semester.

The children really enjoy going to the library every week. They like to take care of the books they choose, and some of them do not want to do anything else but reading, although they sometimes seem to make up their own story’s. We created a nice reading corner in the class, where they can sit and enjoy reading.

The children did look forward to Loy Krathong, in the days before the celebration; we spent a lot of time preparing. The children learned about the meaning of Loy Krathong, what we celebrate and how that goes in practice. The children made nice artwork and wonderful krathongs! For some of them it was even more exiting because they had to perform on the Loy Krathong night party we had at school. It was nice to see how big and self confident the students already are when they stand on stage, alone as well as in a group. I was very proud to see the Kindergarten children performing the traditional Loy Krathong dance. They where dressed up beautifully and performed very well!

We had a little project about the King in the class the week before the King’s birthday. In class we talked about the Kings biography, his family, how he is honored, what kind of interests he has, his projects and what we celebrate on December 5th.

For now the children learn the general knowledge of Christmas, where does Christmas come from, what do we celebrate…

It is Christmas already! It is unbelievable how quickly this year has gone by.

Since October we have had many different activities in school, among them the Loy Krathong celebration and a fieldtrip to Baan Farmsampantakit, where Mr Sanom helped us harvest rice.

We made books about both activities and if you want to read a selection of these stories please click on the link. You are more than welcome to read all of the stories the children wrote. To do so you will have to visit our classroom and look for the books: “The rice was between two wooden sticks and you had to hit the ground” and “I liked Aukhao doing the pancakes on stage.” They are in our reading corner.

We wish everyone a lovely Christmas break and hope to see all of you healthy and happy in January.

Dear parents,

This is my first newsletter to you as Lower Elementary B class teacher.  These 7 weeks have been very fruitful.  The children are all matured and do understand the rules set for common goodness. Grade 3 students are working very hard on their path to abstraction.  I have also set conferences with them weekly to help them do their weekly plan regarding their studies and which also help them be responsible for their own chosen work. Grade 2 students are also working hard but love to chit chat about beautiful things that they have like stationeries, clothes, etc. After all, they are all girls! Grade 1 students have surprised me by showing their love and passion for learning and working with the materials. Lessons after lessons!!!! They never seem to be tired of working. Morning work period is so much fun with all eager and enthusiastic children.

As many of you have already seen the classroom schedule regarding their readings, Grade 2 and 3 students are reading with Kroo Matt once a week and are also are reading with me and Kroo Tam, twice a week. Grade 1 students are reading twice a week as well. After X’mas break, I shall start sending books home with the children on Fridays.

We have also started with math quizzes on Fridays for all the 3 levels. They are timed to see their accuracy and speed. These quizzes right now are on math facts. They love it! Some of the older children still need to learn their Math facts. You could help check with them at home in a fun way.

Grade 2 and grade 3 students are also working hard with Kroo Tam in preparing for the National Test and ONET test. It amazes me at times to see how easily they switch from one language to the other.

Last month we went to the rice field to harvest the plants which were planted by the students last term. We had a splendid time. Those children who have decided beforehand not to do the harvesting, couldn’t resist the temptation to take a turn as it was full of excitement and fun. They have seen how farmers work and that it requires a lot of labors and skills. Our next field trip will be to MAE FAH LUANG GARDEN. The schedule will be announced again.

I hope you and your child have a lovely vacation and a prosperous coming New Year 2008. Bring back pictures or souvenirs from the places that you visit to add in our cultural corner.

Hello,

Since the beginning of this second semester, the weather gets cooler day by day, making a very pleasant atmosphere for learning and naturally we can see the children with lots of energy and enthusiasms even during the afternoon hours.

During Nov 23-30, the children from upper elementary and junior high have had a drama class with Kroo Jid.  They practiced movements, voices, emotions and how to express emotions, imagination and creativity.  This drama class has also focused on child development mentally, emotionally and socially.  Hopefully, it would help melt deviated behaviors of the children as well.

For the drama, they had to write scripts of the play by themselves.  Because we are doing “Global Warming Project”, so their play should make people become aware of the problems and help in lowering its effect. Please come and see their performances at Christmas New Year Party on Fri, Dec 21.

In the classroom, continuing from their learning about the creation of the universe and the formation of the earth last semester, they are going to explore the coming of life on the earth.  They will learn about the living organisms since the beginning, animal evolution and then the coming of man and human evolution. The Stories will be told to give them a big picture of what they are going to learn. They will then do the studies in details.  Finally, their studies will cover the subject areas of the curriculum, i.e. science, biology, geography and history, without making them feel bored and tired, but only fun and a joyful learning.

For Research & Reports, we are starting with animal research. Each student will choose an interesting animal. After getting all the relevant information, they will then need to give oral presentation to the class.

Having done sports last semester for their P. E, rhythmic movements are being taught during PE class for the first half of this term. The movements help in body strengthening and flexibility. This is such a fun activity for them.  After the New Year break, yoga, an exercise for body and mind, is going to be introduced.  I hope they will enjoy it.

สวัสดีค่ะ

ในเทอมที่ 2 นี้ อากาศเริ่มเย็นลง ทำให้บรรยากาศในการเรียนดีขึ้นค่ะ จะเห็นได้ชัดในช่วงบ่ายที่ยังเห็นเด็กๆ มีพลังงาน มีความกระตือรือร้นกันอยู่

สิ่งที่เด็กๆได้เรียนกันในช่วงประมาณหนึ่งเดือนครึ่งที่ผ่านมา นอกจากการเรียนการสอนในห้องเรียนมอนเตสซอรี่แล้ว

ในช่วงวันที่ 26 – 30 พฤศจิกายนที่ผ่านมา นักเรียนห้องประถมปลายและมัธยมต้นได้เรียนวิชาละครโดยคุณครูจิ๊ด   ซึ่งในการเรียนการละครนี้ มีทั้งการฝึกการเคลื่อนไหว การใช้เสียง การแสดงอารมณ์ จินตนาการ และความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ในการเรียนวิชาละครนี้ไม่ได้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อการแสดงเพียงอย่างเดียว สิ่งที่คุณครูคำนึงถึงคือ พัฒนาการด้านจิตใจ อารมณ์และสังคมของเด็กๆ โดยเราหวังว่า การละครจะเป็นเสมือนสื่อที่ช่วยเยียวยาพัฒนาการที่เบี่ยงเบนไปของเด็กๆ ด้วยค่ะ 

นอกจากการฝึกแสดงแล้ว เด็กๆ ยังได้เขียนบทละครกันเอง โจทย์ที่ให้คือ เรื่องเกี่ยวกับภาวะโลกร้อน  โดยเด็กๆ จะต้องคิดละครที่จะทำให้ผู้คนตระหนักและมาช่วยกันแก้ไข  อย่าพลาด มาชมการแสดงของพวกเขากันนะคะ ในงานวันคริสต์มาสและปีใหม่ที่โรงเรียนเย็นวันศุกร์นี้ค่ะ

สำหรับในห้องเรียน จากเทอมที่แล้วเด็กๆได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับกำเนิดของจักรวาลและการกำเนิดของโลก ในเทอมนี้สิ่งที่เรียนต่อเนื่องคือเรื่องเกี่ยวกับกำเนิดของสิ่งมีชีวิตบนโลกนับตั้งแต่ยุคดึกดำบรรพ์

มาจนถึงการเกิดมีมนุษย์ขึ้นมาบนโลกและวิวัฒนาการของมนุษย์ 

เด็กๆ เรียนรู้เรื่องราวเหล่านี้ผ่านการเล่าเรื่องของครู เป็นการทำให้เขาได้เห็นภาพใหญ่หรือภาพรวมก่อน(Big picture) หลังจากนั้น การเรียนในเนื้อหารายละเอียดจะเป็นการเรียนด้วยตนเอง ซึ่งสุดท้ายแล้ว สิ่งที่เด็กๆ ได้เรียนไปก็จะได้เนื้อหาครบตามหลักสูตรทั้งวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์ที่รวมเรื่องของชีววิทยา วิชาภูมิศาสตร์ และวิชาประวัติศาสตร์ ทำให้การเรียนไม่เป็นเรื่องที่น่าเบื่อ แต่กลับทำให้เขารู้สึกสนุกและมีความสุขในการเรียน

สำหรับการเรียนแบบค้นคว้าหาความรู้นั้น (Research & reports) ในช่วงแรก ทุกคนจะได้ทำการค้นคว้าเกี่ยวกับสัตว์ที่น่าสนใจคนละ 1 ชนิด และมาพูดรายงานให้กับเพื่อนๆ ในห้องค่ะ  

ส่วนวิชาพละ หลังจากที่ได้เรียนเกี่ยวกับกีฬาในเทอมแรกแล้ว ในครึ่งแรกของเทอม 2 นี้เป็นกิจกรรมเข้าจังหวะ มีทั้งการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อสร้างความยืดหยุ่น และการเต้นรำเข้าจังหวะ เป็นกิจกรรมที่เด็กๆ บอกว่าทั้งสนุกและเหนื่อยค่ะ และหลังจากเปิดเรียนหลังปีใหม่ จะเป็นการเรียนโยคะในชั่วโมงพละ ซึ่งการฝึกโยคะในปัจจุบันก็ถือเป็นการออกกำลังกายชนิดหนึ่งเช่นกัน ซึ่งจะได้ฝึกทั้งด้านร่างกาย และความสงบของจิตใจควบคู่ไปพร้อม ๆ กัน

ในช่วงเทศกาลปีใหม่นี้ ขอให้ทุกคนมีความสุขสมหวังในทุกๆ สิ่ง และอย่าลืมแบ่งปันความรัก ความเข้าใจให้กับผู้คนรอบๆ ตัวเราด้วยนะคะ

ปฏิทินการเรียนการสอนรายวิชาภาษาไทย โรงเรียนปิติศึกษา ภาคเรียนที่ ๒ ปีการศึกษา ๒๕๕๐

สวัสดีผู้ปกครองทุกท่านคะ

เวลาช่างผ่านไปอย่างรวดเร็วจริง ๆ เลยนะคะ  เผลอแปบเดียวเข้าสู่ฤดูหนาวกันอีกแล้วอากาศแบบนี้ทำให้เด็ก ๆ ไม่สบายกันบ่อย ยังไงก็อย่าลืมดูแลรักษาสุขภาพกันด้วยนะคะ  จดหมายข่าวฉบับนี้เราก็มีคุณครูคนใหม่มาแนะนำให้รู้จักคะคือ คุณครูเจ หรือครูวิภู ชัยฤทธิ์ มาสอนน้อง ๆ ระดับประถมปลายและมัธยมต้นคะ สำหรับประถมต้นก็ยังเป็นครูต่ายสอนเช่นเดิมคะ ผู้ปกครองท่านใดอยากพูดคุยถึงการเรียนของน้อง ๆ เชิญพบคุณครูทั้งสองได้ที่ห้องเรียนเลยคะ

            ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ ๑ ในระดับชั้นนี้ การเรียนการสอนยังมุ่งเน้นไปที่การฝึกทักษะการเขียนและอ่านออกเสียงของนักเรียน เนื่องด้วยหลักสูตรการสอนที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษเกือบทุกวิชา ทำให้นักเรียนมีโอกาสที่จะได้ใช้ภาษาไทยน้อย แต่หากไม่ให้พื้นฐานที่แข็งแรงในระดับชั้นนี้ ต่อไปนักเรียนอาจประสบปัญหาในการฝึกอ่านในใจและการเขียนบรรยายได้ ปัญหาและอุปสรรคอยู่ที่การต้องเรียนอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไป ซึ่งเด็กทุกคนมีการตอบสนองต่อการเรียนรู้ในแนวทางที่ดี

               ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ ๒ ในภาคการศึกษานี้เริ่มมีการให้เด็กฝึกอ่าน ประสมคำกับสระและตัวสะกดที่มีใช้โดยทั่วๆ ไป สอดแทรกด้วยเรื่องของความรู้รอบตัว มารยาทในการสื่อสาร และทบทวนความรู้ซึ่งจะต้องนำไปใช้ในการสอบ NT หรือการสอบวัดผลการเรียนรู้ทั่วประเทศ

                ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ ๓ ถือเป็นระดับชั้นที่มีการเรียนรู้ซึ่งกำหนดไว้ในช่วงชั้นที่ ๑ ครบบริบูรณ์ เด็กมีทักษะในการอ่าน เขียน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งคือการพูดที่ดี มีปัญหาอยู่บ้างคือการสะกดคำผิด เนื่องจากเด็กบางคนเขียนคำเลียนเสียงพูดของตัวเอง ซึ่งไปจำและเข้าใจมาผิดอีกเช่นกัน ระดับชั้นนี้มุ่งเน้นที่การทบทวนทักษะซึ่งได้เรียนไปแล้ว เพื่อจะนำไปใช้ในการสอบวัดผลการเรียนรู้ทั่วประเทศ

เป็นครูใหม่ที่จะมารับผิดชอบการสอนในระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลายและมัธยมศึกษาตอนต้น ในตลอดสองสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา จึงเป็นเรื่องของการปรับการเรียนการสอน และทดสอบพื้นฐานของนักเรียนเพื่อที่จะประสานทักษะการเรียนรู้ให้เกิดความต่อเนื่องจากที่นักเรียนได้เรียนมาแล้ว

ในภาคการศึกษานี้ ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องน่ายินดีว่า นักเรียนโดยรวมมีพื้นฐานทักษะภาษาไทยที่ดี และมีความกระตือรือร้นในการเรียนรู้ หลังจากนี้ หากผู้ปกครองท่านใดมีเรื่องจะพบปะพูดคุยในเรื่องการเรียนของนักเรียน สามารถติดต่อได้ที่ห้องภาษาไทยครับ

              ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ ๔ นักเรียนมีพื้นฐานทางการสื่อสารที่ดี สิ่งที่ให้ความรู้แก่นักเรียนในระดับชั้นนี้โดยรวมคือเรื่องหน้าที่ของพยางค์ คำ กลุ่มคำ และประโยค รวมไปถึงทักษะในการเขียนรูปแบบต่างๆ อาทิ การเขียนจดหมาย บัตรอวยพร คำประพันธ์ร้อยแก้วและร้อยกรองซึ่งเน้นให้นักเรียนมีความเข้าใจในโครงสร้างและรูปแบบเป็นพื้นฐาน สอนให้นักเรียนรู้จักคำราชาศัพท์ พัฒนาศักยภาพของการใช้ภาษาโดยการฝึกให้รักการอ่าน

Ho Ho Ho! Moms, Dads, and Kids.

Christmas has come to town and I’m hoping Santa brings me a lot of books this year! If not then i'm counting on Amazon.com to deliver.

I would like to thank Machulee Sinthuchat for donating 3000 baht and Denise Logan (my mommy) who also donated 3000 baht and to Steve for donating some of the books that Denphum has outgrown, thank you for kindly responding to our need for book or monetary donations for the library. The Library now has around 23 000 baht from the library book budget plus the above donations which will be used to buy close to 60 reference books (mostly from the Eyewitness Guide series) in the new year. However this amount is not enough to bring our little library of close to 7000 books into this new millennium since our mostly hand-me-down books are too outdated to be of much use or of little interest, like everything else in this World, books have a flavour and what was cool five or ten years ago obviously is archaic to the contemporary generation of kids. It's difficult enough to get kids to voluntarily read even books that are fashionable and so almost impossible when most of our books are so grungy, we need a sled full of books from this era to entice the kids to want to read, to enjoy reading and using their imagination, and to be able to relate to the contents.
