สวัสดีค่ะ

จดหมายข่าวฉบับนี้นับเป็นฉบับสุดท้ายของปีการศึกษา 2550 นี้  ขอขอบคุณผู้ปกครองทุกท่านที่ให้ความร่วมมือและสนับสนุนกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของโรงเรียน มาตลอดปีการศึกษา ขอแสดงความยินดีกับพี่อนุบาล 3 ที่จะได้เลื่อนขึ้นไปเรียนชั้นประถมหนึ่ง พี่ๆ ประถมสามที่จะได้เลื่อนไปอยู่ห้องเรียนประถมปลาย และพี่ๆ  ชั้นประถมหก ที่จะจบการศึกษาในวันศุกร์ที่จะถึงนี้  โรงเรียนได้จัดพิธีมอบประกาศนียบัตรสำหรับนักเรียน อนุบาล 3, ประถม 3 และพี่ประถมหก ทั้งหมดรวม 24 คน ในช่วงเช้า  ขอเชิญชวนผู้ปกครองและเด็กๆ มาร่วมงานฉลองรับประกาศนียบัตรของในศุกร์ที่ 7 มีนาคม 2551  ณ สนามหน้าเสาธง โรงเรียนปิติศึกษา ในเดือนมีนาคมนี้มีครูหมดสัญญา และลาออกเพื่อไปศึกษาต่อต่างประเทศ รวม ทั้งหมด 3 คน คือครูซูที่หมดสัญญากับทางโรงเรียน ครูเมย์ และครูกระแตที่จะไปเรียนต่อที่ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา  ต้องขอขอบคุณครูทุกคนที่ได้ทุ่มเทกำลังกายกำลังใจให้ความรู้แก่เด็กๆ และร่วมมือทำกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของโรงเรียนมาโดยตลอด 

สำหรับเรื่องการจัดการศึกษาในปีการศึกษา 2551 นั้น โรงเรียนจะยังคงใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นสื่อในการสอนและปรับบางส่วนให้พร้อมสำหรับการสอบระดับชาติ (NT) โดยได้วางแผนการจัดห้องเรียนดังต่อไปนี้

1. ห้องเรียนอนุบาลสำหรับนักเรียนอายุ 2 ปี 6 เดือน – 4 ปี จำนวน 1 ห้อง มีครู 3 คน

คือ ครูยูลิยา นวมกินา ครูขวัญเกล้า แสงแก้ว และครูผู้ช่วยคนใหม่อีก 1 คน

2. ห้องเรียนอนุบาลสำหรับนักเรียนอายุ 4 -6 ปี จำนวน 1 ห้อง มีครู 2 คน คือ ครูอัน

นา ทิมเมอร์ และครูผู้ช่วยคนใหม่อีก 1 คน

3. ห้องประถมต้น สำหรับนักเรียนอายุ 6-9 ปี จำนวน 2 ห้อง 

3.1 ห้องประถมต้นเอ โดยครูแฮรี่ คีวิทส์ และครูอรสุชา สุจินพรหม

            3.2 ห้องประถมต้นบี โดยครูนีต้า ปาติยเสวี และครูวสุพล คลังยา

4. ห้องประถมปลาย สำหรับนักเรียนอายุ 9-12 ปี จำนวน 1 ห้อง โดยครู สุษมา อุปรา

และครูรวิวรรณ เตวี

5. ห้องมัธยม สำหรับนักเรียนอายุ 12-15 ปี จำนวน 1 ห้อง โดย ครูปูนำ บาลานี

6. ห้องเรียนภาษาไทยสำหรับประถมต้น และประถมปลายระดับละ 1 ห้อง โดยครูสุ

กัญญา  ขลิบเงิน และครูวิภู  ชัยฤทธิ์

7. ห้องเรียนเสริมภาษาอังกฤษสำหรับประถมต้น และประถมปลายระดับละ 1 ห้อง โดยโรงเรียนกำลังประกาศรับสมัครครูสอนเสริมภาษาอังกฤษ จำนวน 2 อัตรา

นอกจากนี้โรงเรียนยังจัดแหล่งเรียนรู้ห้องสมุด ที่มีครูแมธธิว ฟาร์โรว ทำหน้าที่บรรณรักษ์ และรับผิดชอบเรื่องเวปไซด์ และเอกสารสิ่งพิมพ์ของโรงเรียนเป็นผู้ดูแล ตลอดจนจัดให้มีครูพิเศษที่มีความสามารถและประสบการณ์ เข้ามาสอนศิลปะ ดนตรี กีฬาและการเคลื่อนไหว คอมพิวเตอร์ ให้กับนักเรียนอีกด้วย ส่วนกิจกรรมหลังเลิกเรียนนั้นโรงเรียนจัดให้สำหรับระดับประถมศึกษาเท่านั้น โดยพิจารณาจัดให้เหมาะสมกับพัฒนาการช่วงวัยและความต้องการของผู้เรียนเป็นหลัก

 

                ในปีการศึกษา 2551-2552  โรงเรียนมีโครงการพัฒนาหลักสูตรให้สอดคล้องกับสภาพสังคมและวัฒนธรรมไทย โดยยังคงให้ความสำคัญในเรื่องการสร้างสิ่งแวดล้อมในการพูดภาษาอังกฤษ และเนื้อหาสาระมากขึ้น  ดังนั้นกรรมการได้พิจารณาให้เพิ่มกิจกรรมที่ใช้ภาษา ตลอดจนจัดแหล่งการ ซึ่งครูอ้อยจะแนะนำคุณครูทั้งหมดอีกครั้งในวันปฐมนิเทศ ซึ่งโรงเรียนจะมีจดหมายแจ้งไปอีกครั้งค่ะ

สุดท้ายนี้ก็ขอให้เด็กๆ สนุกกับปิดเทอมนี้ แล้วพบกันใหม่วันที่ 15 พฤษภาคม ค่ะ

               

Dear all,

This is the last newsletter of the academic year 2007-2008.  I would like to thank you for cooperating, contributing and supporting all of our school activities. Congratulations to the students who have been promoted to a higher level and Grade 6 students who completed the curriculum. There will be a graduation ceremony for K.3, G.3 and G.6 on Friday, March 7th, 2008 in the morning after the flag ceremony and a lunch party for all the students. The parents are welcome to join the ceremony and party.  At the end of this semester, Kroo Sue, Kroo May and Kroo Kratair are leaving, Sue has finished her contract with the school, Kratair and May are leaving to further their studies in the U.S., I wish them good luck in their future.  I would also like to thank all our teachers and staff members who have put in a lot of effort and hard work in helping the children and the school.

In the coming academic school year 2008-2009, our school still remains an English Program Education. However, we have to develop our curriculum in order for our students to study in higher level and the National Test. The school has already planned to set the classroom as follows;

In addition, the school also has Mr. Matthew Farrow as our librarian as well as keeping our school website up to date and school P.R. For next year the school will continue to have specialist extra teachers to teach Art, Music and P.E. and we will provide after school programs for Elementary students according to child development and needs.

In the coming school year the school will promote Cosmic Education and keep on promoting an English speaking environment as well. We will introduce our team again at the Parents Orientation Day.

Finally, I hope all of you will enjoy the long vacation and see you all on May 15th, 2008.

Dear, all! It was a wonderful year and like everything must come to an end, it is time for all of us to temporarily say good bye; good bye to the students who are ready to move one step up, good bye to the students who are going to have two months of rest and spend more time with the parents, grandparents and their friends.

We learned a lot from each other this year. While we were guiding children through the different subjects, they learned a lot themselves. Some of the children now know the numbers 1 to 3, some of them 1 to 10, some of them learned thousands… Some of them will be able to read soon, and some of them are not shy speaking English anymore.  They all very interested in the shapes and different colors around, they were interested how the friendly and sincere words can change someone’s feelings, they learned how to say thank you when someone is caring about you and how to listen to each other.  If there is something your child hasn’t learnt yet – they will. They are all very different and very intelligent.

They teach us a lot. One of our students (3, 5 years old) said not too long ago after she had a lesson from the teacher: “Please, stay with me because I love you and when people love each other they must stay together! …”

We wish you a peaceful summer. Enjoy every moment with your children, listen to the children and, please, remember that we love them all very much.

So, see you in May!

Kroo Yuliya, Kroo Pang and Kroo Kratair (who is not going to stay with us for the next year because she is going to continue her studies in another country. We will miss you, Kratair! You are like our family, always ready to come and help! Thank you for being so kind to all of us.)

สวัสดี นักเรียนและผู้ปกครอง โรงเรียนปิติศึกษา ทุกท่านค่ะ  วันเวลาช่างผ่านไปรวดเร็วจริงๆเลยนะคะ เพียงแค่อาทิตย์เดียวเท่านั้น ก็จะปิดภาคเรียนแล้ว

  สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา เด็กๆห้องเตรียมอนุบาลและห้องอนุบาล  ได้มีโอกาสไป ขี่ม้า  และดูแพะบางคนได้อุ้มลูกแพะด้วย เด็กๆไม่เพียงแต่ได้ความสุขกลับไปเท่านั้น แต่ยังได้ความรู้ กลับไปด้วย เจ้าของฟาร์มได้ให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับสัตว์ที่อันตรายและพืชต่างๆอีกนิดหน่อย  เด็กๆทุกคนมีความสุข มีเสียงหัวเราะ ทำให้ครูเองก็มีความสุขไปด้วยค่ะ

ห้องอนุบาลก็มีเด็กที่จะขึ้นชั้นไป Lower Elementary ถึง 12 คนเลยค่ะ น้องทรินลี่ย์, นาเดีย, หงส์, ภู, เจ้าขา, เอม, เทลี, ดาด๋า, อันนา, เมล์ล, ฉัตร และ น้องใจ๋ใจ๋ ครูเมย์ กับ ครูแอนนา ขอแสดงความยินดีด้วยนะคะ และก็ยินดีต้อนรับเด็กๆที่จะขึ้นมาห้องอนุบาลด้วยค่ะ

ส่วนตัวครูเมย์เอง ก็ต้องขอขอบคุณผู้ปกครองทุกท่านที่ให้ความไว้วางใจครูเมย์ ได้ช่วยดูแลบุตรหลายของท่าน คูรเมย์เองก็รู้สึกประทับใจผู้ปกครองทุกท่านมากๆด้วยค่ะู ในโอกาสนี้ครูเมย์ ก็ขอกล่าว ลา ทุกๆท่านด้วย ณ ที่นี้ค่ะครูเมย์ ดีใจที่มีโอกาสได้มาสอนในโรงเรียนแห่งนี้และรู้สึกรักเด็กๆมากขึ้น เห็นถึงความน่ารัก ไร้เดียงสา ทำให้มีกำลังใจที่จะสอน ได้ยินเสียงเด็กๆเรียกครูเมย์ๆ ทุกวัน และก็รู้สึกใจหายค่ะ ที่ต้องไปแล้ว คงจะคิดถึงเด็กๆไม่น้อยเหมือนกันนะคะ  ครูเมย์ จะไปศึกษาต่อที่ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ถ้ามีโอกาสครูเมย์จะกลับมาเยี่ยมค่ะ อาจจะกลับมาสอนอีกก็ได้นะคะ 

เด็กหลายคนคงจะตื่นเต้นกับช่วงวันหยุดที่จะถึงอาจมี Plan ไปเที่ยวหลายที่ ครูเมย์ และครูแอนนา ก็ขอให้เที่ยวอย่างมีความสุขและปลอดภัยนะคะ และถ้าใครมีเวลายังไม่ได้ไปไหนกัน ก็อย่าลืมทนทวนทำแบบฝึกหัด อ่านหนังสือ ด้วยนะคะ

Hello all Pitisuksa School students and parents,

this is the last week for this semester and then school will close!!!!!

Last Friday the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes went to the farm to ride horses, we saw goats and some kids were carrying the baby goats. The children learned about some dangerous animals and some plants. All the children were laughing and seemed very happy; this made all teachers happy too!!

From the Kindergarten class there will be 12 children going into Lower Elementary, they are as follows: Trinley, Nadia T, Hong, Poo, Jaokha, Aim, Taylee, Dada, Unna, Mail, Chat and Jai Jai. Kroo Anne and I are very happy for them. We also welcome the new children that are coming next semester.

I personally want to thank all the parents for putting your trust in me to take care of your children, I’m very happy to be at this school and I love teaching the children. They are very beautiful and innocent and inspire me to teach them everyday. When I hear them call my name I feel so excited and so I am sorry to say that this will be my last semester at Pitisuksa because I will be going to America to learn English. If I come back, I will come to visit everyone and maybe I will teach again. I will really miss everyone!!

From Christmas to the end this school year was less than nine weeks and these weeks have gone by remarkably quickly. The highlight of the year, at least for the children who were in lower elementary already, is definitely the days we go camping.

Last year the class made a book in which each child wrote what it enjoyed most about camping. And this year we will do the same.

Going on field trips and going camping are wonderful opportunities for children and teachers alike. It is great to be able to see children of my class in a different environment. In a classroom there are only so many activities you can do and so many ways you can interact with each other. Going to a farm to harvest rice gave me an opportunity to appreciate how well some children were able to cut rice and how enormously focused and driven they were. Camping is great as well, for here we get to see children play together, solve problems, put up their tents, go to the market and prepare food and so on…

It was lovely to discover who was great at baking omelets or crushing garlic, or see someone take care of someone else when they were sad or help carry each others tents in out of the rain.

Everybody in our class had a wonderful time. Children have a lot of fun together; it is exciting to sleep together in a tent, for some it was even their first time to do so. Children get to know each other better and usually this benefits the class as a whole.

The Monday after camping we talked about it in class and though almost everybody missed their moms and dads, the conclusion was that nobody would have wanted to miss this experience. Some kids suggested camping every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!

Dear Parents,

March has arrived quickly. It is now the end of the school year. Time really flies. Everybody has been working so hard with their phonics, thinking skills and reading comprehension before transitioning to their individual Montessori work. If you walked into the room, you wouldobserve such a wide range ofnew lessons and new materials being taken from the shelves: some children choose to work on the polygons from the geometric cabinet, while others are skip counting, multiplying, subtracting, or creating geography maps of the world. The children are progressing in math, language, reading and cultural subjects. Every day in Math we are using Montessori Materials to understand all the major concepts in algebra, geometry, money and word problems.

A vacation is always welcome no matter who you are and what you do. The children feel the same. They are all looking forward to the summer vacation. Most of them already have their travel plans. I hope everybody enjoys this break and not forgetting to wish you a happy Songkran Day. We have 5 children graduating from our class; Nonnie, Chubby, Irene, Lydia, and Lamtharn. Irene will be leaving us to join a school in Chiang Mai while the rest will be continuing on to our upper elementary class. I wish all of them the best!

As for our current grade 1 and 2 students, I hope to see you fresh and happy in the next school year. Have a great vacation all of you.

Scout Camping by Arm, Kawin and Den

The scout camping on February 28 -29 was great. We played games in the morning then set our tents at the football field. After the lunch break, we practiced performances for the camp fire.  Then two persons from each group went to the market to buy fresh vegetables and meat for cooking.  Each group had to cook one menu and everyone in the group had to help.  After cooking, we took shower and had dinner together.  The food we made was delicious. 

The camp fire at night was fun.  The performances were great, some played drama and some had dance.  Then came the most exciting time, we all got into the tents but we could not sleep.  We had snacks in the tents and talked almost the whole night. 

We woke up next morning at 6 o’clock and did some aerobic exercise at 7 o’clock.  After breakfast, we went for trekking at Monk Cave.  We had to walk 2 kilometers around the mountain.  We had lunch by the river near the cave and then we came back to school.

We are looking forward to camping again next year and hope that we will have more activities at night so that we don’t have to sleep. 

Farewell Party by Eye, Pizza and Sarah

On Tuesday February 26 , our class had a farewell party.  We decorated our classroom and cooked food like cake, french-fries, sandwiches, corn soup, salad and fried sausages.  We painted T-shirts for Praewaa and Mancharie who were graduating; for Naonao, Natas, Poomchanok and Denphum who were leaving for another school. We wish all of them happy and good luck.  We will miss you, please come back and visit us again.

Farewell Party by Than and Ging

That was on the last Tuesday of February.  In the morning we took a photo of our class, and then we painted T-shirts for our friends who will go to study at another school.  We prepared fried sausages, French-fries, salad, corn soup, pancake, tuna sandwiches and orange juice for lunch.  It was delicious.  In the afternoon, we went out to play the game “Capture the Flag” together.  It was very fun.  Then we went back to the class, had Blueberry Cheese Cake and White Chocolate Cake.  At the end of the day, we gathered again to say goodbye. 

 

 

สวัสดีค่ะ

เพียงแค่ 1 สัปดาห์เองนะคะ ก็จะถึงเวลาปิดภาคเรียนปีการศึกษา 2550 แล้ว ผู้ปกครองและเด็กๆหลายคนคงเตรียมโครงการดีๆพื่อไปท่องเที่ยวกันแล้วใช่ไหมคะ ครูแน็ตก็ขออวยพรให้มีความสุขกับวันหยุดพักผ่อนทุกๆคนเลยนะคะ แต่เด็กๆอย่าลืมนะคะว่าการเรียนเป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญที่สุด ถ้าเด็กๆมีเวลาว่างก็หาโอกาสอ่านหนังสือทบทวนหรือศึกหาความรู้เพิ่มเติมอย่างน้อยสัปดาห์ละ

 

1-2 ครั้งก็ยังดีค่ะ เพราะในปีการศึกษาใหม่ปี 2551 นี้เด็กๆชั้น ป.3 และ ป.6 จะมีวิชาที่ต้องทดสอบวัดผลทางการศึกษาระดับชาติขั้นพื้นฐาน (ONET) เพิ่มขึ้นอีก 1 วิชานั่นก็คือวิชา สังคมศึกษา ศาสนาและวัฒนธรรมค่ะ ท้ายที่สุดนี้ครูแน็ตก็ขอแสดงความยินดีกับแพรวาและมัญชรีที่สำเร็จการศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 และขอต้อนรับ นนนี่ ชับบี้ ส้มฉุน ลำธาร เฟย ลิเดีย ดาร์ลีนและวงษ์ สู่ห้องเรียนชั้นประถมปลายด้วยค่ะขอให้ทุกคนมีความสุขกับวันปิดเทอมที่ยาวนาน รักษาสุขภาพและสวัสดีปีใหม่สงกรานต์ล่วงหน้าด้วยค่ะ

Hello everybody,

Let me start by telling you that I have enjoyed teaching here at Piti Suksa very much. Though I have been here only for a very short while everyone is so friendly that I feel at home. Everyday there is so much to look forward to!

For English literature we read “The Story of Phra Abhai Mani”. The students took great interest as each of us took turns to read the book and the summaries written after each part revealed their good comprehension.

Right now we are reading “Behind the Painting” and the students seem to relate well to it as they know the customs of this beautiful country and of course they are teenagers! They have covered a lot of grammar and are good learners.

In Science Culture I have noticed all of them are spontaneous and willing to join activities and co-ordinate well in team work. During library week Junior High students gave a presentation on “65 ways to save the planet” and showed great confidence and a wonderful attitude.

The field trip to Lampang was very enlightening and the children absorbed a lot.

Wishing you all happy holidays and awaiting to see you all fresh and enthusiastic in the coming academic year.

ห้องเรียนภาษาไทยประถมต้น

สวัสดีคะผู้ปกครองโรงเรียนปิติศึกษาทุกท่าน

เผลอแปบเดียวก็สิ้นปีการศึกษาอีกแล้วนะคะ   เวลาช่างผ่านไปรวดเร็วจริง ๆ เลย ในปีการศึกษาที่ใกล้จะผ่านมาพ้นไปนี้ ห้องภาษาไทยระดับประถมศึกษาตอนต้นได้ทำกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนกับน้อง ๆ เริ่มตั้งแต่น้อง ๆ ชั้น ป.๑ ที่ตอนนี้น้อง ๆ หลาย ๆ คนมีพัฒนาการอ่านและเขียนเก่งขึ้นมาก ๆ เลย  สำหรับน้อง ป.๒ และพี่ ป.๓ มีความขยันและตั้งใจเรียนฝ่าฟันอุปสรรคในการเรียนและการสอบ NT Test ดังนั้นในช่วงปิดเทอมนี้ ครูต่ายขอให้น้อง ๆ มีความสุขกับการพักผ่อน แต่ก็อย่าลืมทบทวนการอ่าน การเขียน หรือหยิบนิทาน หนังสือเรียนมาอ่านบ้างนะคะ

และแน่นอนว่าเปิดเทอมหน้านี้จะมีน้อง ๆ จากชั้นอนุบาล 3 ย้ายขึ้นมาเรียน ป.๑ ครูต่าย     ดีใจมากคะที่จะได้สอนเด็ก ๆ ก็ขอแสดงความยินดีกับน้อง ๆ ทุกคนนะคะที่ได้เลื่อนชั้นมาเป็นพี่   ป.๑ กันแล้ว และผู้ปกครองท่านใดอยากพูดคุยกับคุณครู หรือปรึกษาเกี่ยวกับเตรียมความพร้อมของน้อง ๆ ก่อนขึ้น ป. ๑ เชิญได้ที่ห้องเรียนภาษาไทยนะคะ

สวัสดีผู้ปกครองทุกท่านครับ

ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4

เนื่องจากการเรียนที่ผ่านมาทำให้ทราบว่านักเรียนยังขาดประสบการณ์ในการจัดลำดับความคิด จึงได้ฝึกให้นักเรียนได้ทำชิ้นงานในลักษณะที่สร้างสรรค์ออกมามากขึ้น แต่เมื่อฝึกให้ทำชิ้นงานแล้ว ยังทำให้พบอีกว่าอุปสรรคสำหรับนักเรียนบางคนในเรื่องการอ่านและเขียนยังเป็นปัจจัยให้ไม่สามารถทำงานที่ได้รับมอบหมายให้สำเร็จได้ จึงพยายามมุ่งเน้นพัฒนาการอ่านและเขียนซึ่งเป็นพื้นฐานเป็นสำคัญ และฝึกในเรื่องการเป็นผู้ตั้งคำถาม

ระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 5

เนื่องจากในระดับชั้นนี้มีการสอบ NT เพื่อวัดระดับความรู้ ในช่วงที่ผ่านมาจึงได้เน้นในเรื่องของการฝึกทำแบบทดสอบ และการสรุปแก้ปัญหาในทักษะที่นักเรียนยังขาดอยู่บางประการ เช่น การจับใจความสำคัญ การเขียนคำถูก ผิด โดยแก้ปัญหาด้วยวิธีให้นักเรียนอ่านงานที่หลากหลายขึ้น และฝึกการตั้งคำถาม

ระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 6

ในระดับชั้นนี้ นักเรียนมีพื้นฐานทักษะภาษาไทยอยู่พอสมควร และค่อนข้างดี จึงมุ่งเน้นไปที่การฝึกทำแบบทดสอบ การให้เคล็ดในการทำข้อสอบ และการให้หลักกว้างๆ ในการคิดวิเคราะห์โจทย์เป็นสำคัญ เพื่อนักเรียนจะสามารถทำข้อสอบ O-NET ซึ่งเป็นการสอบวัดความรู้ระดับชาติได้ในคะแนนที่ดี และรู้จักนำไปใช้ นอกเหนือจากนี้แล้วเป็นการฝึกอ่าน และฝึกการตั้งคำถาม

ระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 และ 2

Dear Parents and little ones,

Back when I had a full mop of curls on my head (like Shaun in Pre-K.) it was that the days were unforgivingly long and years where comparable to a lifetime, kind of like an insect would perceive time. But all reality is subject to alteration, now a day is merely a supersonic blur and the years pass by without even breaking into a sweat. As adults the changes become almost unnoticeable or rather we prefer not to notice them, however it’s amazing to look at photographs from last year and see how much the kids have grown. Even our towering Kroo Harry has difficulty now getting little Sarah’s feet to clear the ground when she asks him to swing her around.

And so too our books have grown another year older, far too few still have that ‘new book smell’ while most are feeling the effects of old age, sickness and sticky fingers and inevitably disposal where surgical procedures can no longer give a binding guarantee of keeping them in circulation. This year we have added 156 mostly brand new books to our library’s shelves, most of them were bought using the library’s annual book buying budget, others were from money that was donated and then the rest were used books donated by parents, thank you to everyone who responded.

Finally the Summer Holidays are here, and we are bound to complain that the days never feel long enough (at least for the teachers but the opposite is usually true for the parents during the school holidays!), and as a bald short squint wise teacher once casually remarked to me… “soon it will just be a memory”.

EFL Classroom

Hard to believe the summer is already here!! The children have been really great this last semester, and have enjoyed practicing various phonetic studies through games and circle activities. They expecially enjoyed making picture collages and studying different emotions. Using synonyms, antonyms, and parts of grammar they learned how to express their feelings in more detail. We also explored more journal writing and focused on punctuation and complete sentences. In addition to this work, Grade 6 researched and prepared time lines for our new Peace Board! They studied Martin Luther King in Jan. and Maria Montessori in Feb. They were responsible for gathering pictures and compiling brief summaries of their lives. In studying the lives of famous leaders, it is hoped that they too can carry on the spirit of peace and tolerance.
I am sorry to say that this will be my last semester teaching EFL at Pitisuksa. I will travel to Nepal and India and return in May to help make new Language materials and practice Muay Thai. I will be heading home to America at the end of the month. It has been a pleasure working with all of your children. Thank you Kroo Harry for all of your lessons and to Class A, for being the best class ever!! I will miss you all…

Peace Education

The teachers Peace Education Workshop has been rescheduled for the first week in May to coincide with the other workshops planned at the beginning of the year. We will work together to improve our school community and become more aware of peace within ourselves and each other. It is hoped that we can share ideas for circle and prepare activities that can be done as a community through the year. - International Day, Community Service, Mediations etc. We are looking for parents interested in up keeping the monthly Peace Board and assisting the older children with service projects for next year.
