Thai Culture week 2008

Today is the start of our Thai Culture week and the students will be learning about the culture, customs, traditions and way of life in the four regions of Thailand. On Monday they will learn about Shadow plays (Nang-dta-lung) from southern Thailand, on Tuesday will be about traditional northern style dancing together with drumming and a Lanna story (Fon paak nua), they will learn on Wedensday how to prepare "fruit in syrup" (Pon-la-mai loi gaew) and how to wear a loin-cloth (Jong gra-ben) both from the central provinces and Thursday is about the traditional Isaan show from the north eastern provinces called Pong-lang so named after the local style xylophone with drums with the musician wearing traditional Isaan cloth.
