Position Opening: School Director

Reports to: School Licensee Representative

Starting Date: Aug 2010

Duties:

Oversee the day-to-day administrative and maintenance operations of the school, including meeting all requirements of the Thai Ministry of Education
Represent the school in the Chiang Rai community, and participate in social programs; actively promote the awareness of child-centered education in Chiang Rai and Thailand, and contribute to the training of teachers and school administrators in student-centered learning in Thailand and Southeast Asia through interaction with other alternative and government-sponsored communities and programs
Interact with parents to educate them on the philosophy and functioning of the school
Develop and supervise student co-curricular programs
Develop and supervise student community outreach and activity programs
Work closely with the Head of Academics to create a positive and productive learning environment for the students and teachers

Required Qualifications:

A master degree in education from a recognized university
10 or more years hands-on experience as a teacher
5 or more years experience in an educational administration position, preferably in an alternative educational community, and/or in the Montessori system of education
Be a Thai National
Have complete knowledge of Thai educational system
Strong verbal and written ability in the English Language
Demonstrate proven strong social and organizational skills
Be motivated to work as a team member for the betterment of the larger school community, rather than having a limited motivation for personal success
Desirable -- exposure to a multicultural setting and familiarity with current international systems of education
