Active Education
Piti Suksa (Chiang Rai
Montessori) School was founded in 1999 under the Piti Suksa Foundation. It is recognized as a model school for Montessori education in
Thai context at 3 levels (kindergarten, lower elementary and upper
elementary) where educational innovation is created and disseminated
into the community. It is a school where opportunities are open
widely to the teachers and the parents to learn about Montessori
education in Thai context.
Piti Suksa (Chiang Rai Montessori) School makes education an active process building on children’s inborn motivation to learn through exploration. Children are challenged to master progressively more complex learning materials, as they are developmentally ready. Their success builds life-long pride and joy in learning. In addition to traditional subjects, children also learn practical life skills, deep respect for each other and the environment. They establish a unique ability to direct their own lives and become team members working as an essential part of a larger whole. Montessori education teaches the whole child within a larger community.
Learning Community
Piti Suksa (Chiang Rai
Montessori) is established to be a learning community. All members
learn from one another and develop themselves continuously. We
are creative and have positive attitudes. We create team work
and team spirit with the sense of devotion. We are determined
to be a close-knit community with warm atmosphere of cooperation
among students, parents, teachers, school administrators and the
school board committee.
The school is located on a large campus (almost 1.5 hectares or 4 acres) in the suburbs of Chiang Rai, a quiet town in northern Thailand which is still small enough and remote enough to preserve the charm and intimacy that Thailand is famous for.
